You are a collection of your thoughts you have accumulated over time. Any attribute you have is not the real YOU. Its just a part. So its wrong to make a statement like “I am lazy” or “I am selfish”. You can at the most say “I am feeling lazy now”, or “I am feeling selfish about this now”. The characteristics can be changed, but not the person who has those characteristics. Thus understanding that the characteristics that you have is different from you, is the first step towards an intentional change. Changing the statement from “I am fat” to “My body is over weight now”; or “I am a drunkard” to “I drink (more than I should)” itself opens up possibilities for you to change the characteristic you see in your body and mind. Start detaching your characteristics from you, and start designing and working towards the ideal you.
